Today, at 38, Sebastiano leads this ecosystem with the same tireless dedication he possessed at fifteen, when he took his first steps into the world of hospitality. His journey is one of true mastery, built from the ground up and refined on an international stage: from the prestigious excellence of Taormina’s top restaurants to formative years abroad in the precision of Switzerland and the dynamism of Ireland.

As a FIS-certified Sommelier, Sebastiano is more than just the owner; he is the heartbeat of every service. Every detail of the Estate and the restaurant is the fruit of his twenty years of expertise and a clear philosophy: "Nothing happens by chance; everything is built with hard work, dedication, and a constant drive for excellence."

The Birth of a Dream: From the Heart of Isola Bella

It all began before the timeless beauty of Taormina’s Isola Bella. This is where Sebastiano founded the Osteria—a place where Sicilian cuisine is reinterpreted with a modern touch. This success was not a finish line, but a spark: thanks to the results of this labor, Sebastiano was able to invest back into his land, creating Tenuta Bell’Assai.

The Name: A Promise of Beauty

Why "Bell’Assai"? The name was born while gazing at Isola Bella from the windows of the Osteria. It expresses the sheer wonder of Sicilian beauty—Bell’Assai (meaning "truly beautiful")—infused with a vibrant soul that welcomes the influence of our Contemporary Seafood Pizza, a bold encounter between maritime tradition and innovative dough.

The Vision: A Native Ecosystem

Sebastiano’s mission is to create a 360-degree Sicilian ecosystem. Across our three hectares of countryside, we cultivate over 200 olive trees and vineyards of Nero d’Avola, Grillo, and Insolia.

Everything the land produces is transformed into excellence: our extra-virgin olive oil, our estate wines, our Don Vito craft beer, and our signature Wild Fennel Amaro, extracted from plants that grow spontaneously across the Estate.

The Estate: Where Stone, Jasmine, and Cinema Meet

Tenuta Bell’Assai is a sanctuary where architecture embraces nature. Our two villas, built in authentic Sicilian style, are clad in Taormina stone and adorned with hand-painted Caltagirone ceramics.

From our cellar-shop, the view stretches from the Castle of Sant’Alessio to the distant coast of Calabria. Our proximity to Savoca and Forza d’Agrò—the iconic filming locations of The Godfather—allows us to weave the myth of cinema into our hospitality, offering exclusive tours in the comfort of our latest-generation Mercedes Vans.
